Description

Soxhlet Extraction Apparatus exampleSoxhlet Apparatus with Allihn style condenser suited to 500ml and up flasks. Smaller units include a flask with them, due to their smaller joint size.

Soxhlet Extractors are perfect for the continuous, automated and un-monitored concentration of lipids and for the creation of tinctures as well as uses where a compound has limited solubility in a solvent to achieve greater concentrations of multiple flushes.

In short, this Soxhlet apparatus allows for greater concentration and purity where it would be costly in time and resources to achieve.

Excellent devices for making tinctures, and for budding essential oil extractions looking for higher quality end products.

A thimble or cellulose filter(sold separately) is filled with a material and placed in the extraction chamber whereas the flask is filled with solvent and heated. The vapor rises and is condensed in the included condenser, dripping back down onto the material. This extracts lipids and compounds using the solvent.

Once the extraction chamber is filler, a cleverly designed auto-siphon drains the saturated liquid back into the flask. The process is then repeated onto the same material until the desired concentration is achieved, or until the material being extracted is spent.

Soxhlet devices get their name from Franz von Soxhlet, who also separated the various proteins in milk, suggested its pasteurization and discussed the sugar found in milk, lactose.

Soxhlet Extraction Apparatus Set includes:

Condenser:

Made of borosilicate glass
Tapered reduced neck at top and bottom for maximized efficiency
10mm hose connections
Allihn style condenser

Soxhlet Extraction Chamber:

Made of borosilicate glass
Full glass auto-siphon

Requires fritted disc thimble or filter cartridge to achieve desired results, both sold separately. A stand setup is highly recommended.

Volume suggests the intended minimum flask size, not the volume of the Soxhlet chamber
