A test tube (also called a sample tube or culture tube) is a glass (or plastic) piece of tubing with one closed end with the other remaining open.
Being made of borosilicate glass makes them perfect for reuse, as they can be sterilized with heat. They are also convenient for heating small amounts of liquids or handling chemicals in qualitative experiments.
Spherical bottoms and rounds sides make them easy to wash out for reuse as well as help contain reactive gasses.
In biology, test tubes are also used for culturing live organisms such as molds, bacteria, mold seedlings etc.
– Made of Borosilicate Glass
– Available in a range of sizes
Listing is for individual test tubes. For bulk amounts, see our other listings, or contact us.
Safety Notes:
– Tube should be preheated prior to full heat application, as sudden temperature shocks may shatter glass.
– Take care not to over fill test tube, recommended max volume is 50%
– Use a dropper to add solution to test tube
– Do not suddenly cool too significantly after heating as sudden temperature shocks may shatter glass.
